The days of stopping by the local newsstand for a paper in the morning are just about over. With more and more people counting on the Web and phones to browse news stories and current events, the need for better and cleaner apps has come to be. In keeping with the constantly changing technology, three major news providers have stepped up to the plate with Android apps geared towards their provided content.

USA Today: The first and most beneficial point to this app is that it is extremely simple. The menus and pages are sharp and clear, making this one of the easiest apps to navigate. The only down side is there are no customization options at all, so what you see is what you get.
NPR News: For those with more of a bend to listening to the news rather than reading it, this is the perfect app. You simply click on the red star next to the news item and the streaming audio fulfills all of your news needs. The only real issue with this app is the lack of streaming audio from local broadcasts such as those available from the Web, but this feature should be coming shortly.
AP Mobile: This app is similar to USA Today with one major difference. The AP app is very customizable, allowing for list creation of favorites to be viewed first. This also comes with a social integration feature linking it to Twitter and Facebook but make take some time to get it fine tuned to exactly what is desired.
Whichever way the news delivery is desired, one of these apps will fit the bill. Each has its benefits and it is recommended that all three should be tried to see which one fits. Take some time to browse over the features from each one and the right one for you will be found.
