Anyone was ever traveled for business, knows the difficulty of finding something in a new city or town, especially when visiting for the first time. The Aloqa application gives real-time location information based on their preferences and social graph. It is a simple matter of looking at the phone in order to find friends that are close by or businesses that they prefer to frequent.

This app will also show the user any local events that might be taking place during their time in the area. The events may include things like concerts, plays or shows. This can all be done without the need to launch a search application or a browser on the phone.

This is a GPS location based application which can bring information to the user such as where to find the nearest gas station or local hotel. The app uses what it terms “channels” to bring each different type of information directly to the user. There will be a channel for restaurants, hotels, movie theaters and just about any service that may be needed while in an unfamiliar area.

This application will also alert you to particular events when you near them. These alerts come in the form of either a ring or vibrate and there is the option to have no alert whatsoever, other than it coming up on the screen. There is also a Family Friendly channel which will alert you to events in the area that are particularly geared toward family activities.

This feature can be particularly helpful when traveling with the family on vacation to an area that has not been frequented often. This will help eliminate the need to rely on desk clerks and waiters as to where to go and what to do while in a new area. The one drawback to this app is that if left on it will tend to drain the battery on Android phone.
