Google Maps has finally done it with the release of updated Version 4.1. This adds some very nice features to an already extremely useful app. With all the new features, this becomes one of the must have apps for any Android phone user.
The search results have been completely revamped in both look and feel. It has been made more user-friendly in that it brings the top results right to the front first then a swipe can show the others rather than plodding through a list. The change is said to be one of the smooth search results that Google has created to date.
The next feature is a new Latitude widget than has been added in this update. This version is said to be a bit more private than Google Buzz in that it only lets people know where you are if it is told to. This can be a great tool for letting everyone know where you are in your social network.
Google has finally come to their sense when it comes to the next feature. Everyone on the planet has more than one online account somewhere and not Google is allowing Maps to manage multiple accounts in the new update. This is done easily by going to Menu, then More and then Switch Account to sign out of the one that is open and into another one.
The last and possibly nicest feature to this update is the ability to use Google Maps as live wallpaper on the phone. This keeps it right on the UI and allows for instant access which is great for getting up to date traffic information or anything else one could think of when it comes to Google Maps. This update is easily found in the Android Market by conducting a quick search.
