App Update: Google Voice Now Works In Real Time

Posted on 25 March 2010 by admin

Google seems to be having a field day with app updates lately and their newest one for Voice is at the top of the list. Along with updates for Listen and Shopper, Voice got the majority of the upgrades and a few very nice added features. They have added new alert features along with a contact strip.

Google Voice Android

In the older version, alerts would come out every 15 minutes for any new voice mail or text message. With the upgrade, there is now a setting under Inbox Synchronization that brings these alerts in a few seconds rather than minutes. This feature will also keep Voice from forwarding texts to your phone, which is nice if the plan you are on is limited to a certain number a month.

The contact strip that comes with this update is yet another great feature that many users may not have had the opportunity to see in action. This strip will pop up once a contact’s name is tapped and show all the options for contacting that individual. This means that if the user wants to IM someone rather than call them, the information and direct link will be readily available for them to access.

The updates help to speed up the use of the Google Voice for Android quite a bit. By having the alerts come in more frequently, there will be no being notified by email long before the phone ever reacts. The contact strip means never again to have to search for an IM address or phone number thorough list upon list, keeping all the pertinent information juts a tap away.

The update is readily available on The Android Market and may be found by conducting a brief search. Anyone using Google Voice already will instantly see the benefits of these changes. Download it today and enjoy the newest Google update for Android.
