The Motorola Droid has performed quite well and has gotten a lot of buzz since release, but has had its share of little niggling bugs here and there. Well, perhaps now the wait is over for this phone to get updated and get buzzing even stronger.

Rumors are flying about an Over-The-Air update being released right around now in many areas soon (if not already), and is actually part 1 of 2 releases, that is actually preparation for the update to version 2.1 of Android.
The first update weighs in at 61MB and reportedly fixed a Facebook glitch that kept users from downloading the latest version (very much a loudly complained about issue on many forums). The size of it would suggest more than that was fixed, but it wasn't reported, if so.
Now rumors are really flying that the upcoming Android update, 2.1, will be released on Jan. 22nd and this update is preparing Droid for the big change-over. Hopefully, this will be the boost the Droid has been looking for to really gain traction in the marketplace.
