What would a tech story be without drama, you ask? A story not worth reporting, we reply.
We reported that Motorola issued an over-the-air update, in possible preparation for Android 2.1 to be released, a few days ago. It seems that the company itself is denying any such update was sent out, saying no updates have been pushed out since Dec. or so. It seems they posted a Twitter update to confirm this was the case: http://twitter.com/MotoMobile/statuses/8074996486

It's odd, since many very reliable news sites and blogs were reporting this update, along with some users (but not all, it seems). Several blogs did state their review models did not receive an update notification of any kind, but many other users reported Facebook fixes and battery life improvements. It's a complete mystery, it appears.
Did the company release it only to some users and not others, to test it? Why would they not report such a test? Is it a simple case of human error, quite prevalent with larger companies these days? We'll follow up on this drama and let all of you know the scoop as we hear it.

From what I made of it, which is not much, seems the update was only a fix to an original problem having something to do with FB. Possibly received by the ones who needed it only? Really was rooting for them though, have a stock Hero myself. I want 2.1 please, unfortunately I’m not one that knows how to build one heck, I don’t even know how to Get one that someone else built!
