Some Nexus One users have reported strange or spotty 3G issues with their phones the last week or two, and Google has finally come out and admitted there are issues at times with 3G access on some phones and in some areas. It's good to see that Google isn't playing the denial game that ends up hurting trust and sales on a phone or any other device.

The Google forums here: http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/android/thread?tid=0c0fb2a46ad64955&hl=en has posted an update as to several possible fixes for the issue, and informed customers they're working on a software update that should make 3G access for those customers much better also.

It's interesting to note they also state some of the issue is that some customers are right on the edge of 3G coverage areas, and that could very well be causing the issues some are seeing. Its always best to make sure you're in a good coverage area for technology like this before complaining to providers that the phone doesn't work. If you're right on the cusp of a coverage area, performance could change (for the better or worse) just by driving a mile or two in one direction.

Coverage maps can easily be gotten on a provider's website or by visiting the store where you got the phone, if applicable. We'll update you as the software fix becomes available, and if it actually helps those who are having trouble.
