Think Google is everywhere now? Just wait until the summer when Google plans to launch Google TV in conjunction with Intel and Sony. The New Google TV platform will be based on the Android and the will work in the same fashion that the apps do, it will be open sourced.

The open sourcing will allow developers to produce just about anything and make it come to life on your television. Third party developers will be able to create apps just as they do for an Android phone, allowing the user to customize their viewing experience. This whole concept makes the idea of app development a lot more prevalent in the coming months.
Google will likely start by offering the standard fair most Android users already enjoy. Things like Twitter, Facebook and YouTube should be able to be viewed right on the television and all the updates kept current. Web browsing and any website notifications that may be received are likely all to be included in the first offering of Google TV.
There are quite a few features that relate directly to television viewing that will be offered. Sub-titles and closed captioning that will be based in Google Translate along with the ability to see what all your social networking friends such as Facebook or Twitter are viewing at the same time. The addition of live chat rooms for people to discuss the show they are all watching is yet another feature that will be offered.
Audience participation will be moved to a completely new level for reality shows such as American Idol, with real time voting being integrated in to the features of Google TV. All anyone can do is wait until Google, along with Sony and Intel, get their proverbial “ducks” in a row and hand the world yet one more way to interact. The release is set for sometime in the summer of this year and it should turn out to be quite interesting if they can pull it off.
