The year 2010 is going to bring a wide variety of changes to the world, in the realm of mobile computing. The advances in technology and design of smart phones that are already on the market and coming soon will replace the need for many people to even carry a laptop. The manufacturers are installing faster processors. The majority of new phones, which already have one gig processors, are moving forward to ones as fast as two gigs.

The 2G processors in the smart phones will be faster than what most people currently have in their laptops now. This being the case, the need for carrying around a bulky laptop or a net book will slowly be replaced by one piece of equipment, the smart phone. These phones currently can do just about everything that a laptop does but it is a much more compact size, without the need for a case or bulky accessories.
While laptops and net books will still have their place, for the most part, the market sees users trending more towards higher-end smart phones than other mobile computing devices. The open source Android platform allows virtually anyone to create an app. In this respect, there is no need to wait on a software manufacture to come up with an application for a particular purpose.
An individual can have an idea, download an SDK and make it a reality. With no need to wait on anyone else to make it happen, this option is much more desirable to the general public. With the majority of the apps in the Android Market being free, this cuts down on repetitive costs after purchasing the mobile device.
Majority of smart phone users out there today would not trade their phone for anything. This is their lifeline to not only family and friends but all the social networking that the Internet can provide. With this in mind, the majority of them are of the school of thought that why carry around 10 pounds worth of equipment when their whole online world can be slipped into their back pocket.
