The Motorola Shadow Gives a Different Look to the Droid

Posted on 20 January 2010 by admin

While much of the concentration of the Droid phones seems to be the direct battle with the iPhone, the Motorola Shadow appears to be going after a different market. This is a truly sexy phone that has a slide out QWERTY keyboard that many Blackberry users may find interesting. Now we have said many times that Blackberry users are a loyal bunch and the Droid should not really be a threat to them, but this will definitely make things a bit more interesting.

Having torn through quite a few cell phones over the years, the thing that stands out the most for this phone is the large screen. When coupled with the keypad, it makes for a very interesting combo. It gives a lot more viewing space and the keypad is hardly as small as the one that is featured on most Blackberries. Typing on both of them is not even comparable.

It gets even better when the HDMI port is discovered. To be quite honest, the HD ability that this phone has is very impressive. While this is a feature that may not be that important to someone that uses their phone for business purposes, it is still a nice little toy to have at the ready. For those that really like their “stuff,” this is going to be very hard to pass up.

Because of the keyboard, we have to think that Droid is looking to absolutely take over the smartphone niche. They are not going for one small niche any longer; they are testing waters here that will bring on a whole new opponent. While there have been challenges to the Blackberry, very little blood has been drawn on their market share. Things may change in that regard much sooner than we think.
