Tricks For Extending The HTC Hero’s Battery Life

Posted on 07 March 2010 by admin

Every Smartphone user on the planet wants more from their phone. This can come in the form of easier to use apps or better functionality. To the end, here are some tips on how users can get a few more hours out of their Hero’s battery.

HTC Hero

First, disable the “Always on Data Mode” as this is the biggest drain on any phone’s battery. Very few people need this on all the time and it is simple to change. Go to the Mobile Network Settings menu and deselect the box labeled “Enable Always On Data Mode."

Secondly, disable automatic updates for things like Flickr, Twitter, Facebook and the weather. These apps constantly strain the data connection along with draining the battery by incessantly checking for updates that may or may not be there. Go to each of the individual app’s settings and disable or alter the frequency of the updates to help with this.

By disabling the Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and Wireless Network Positioning connections when not in use, the battery usage will be extended greatly. For the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, go to the Wireless Controls portion of the settings menu. The GPS does just fine all by itself for network positioning, the wireless connection just makes it run faster and by disabling it, you will use less battery power and still have full functionality.

By lowering the screen brightness, you can save eyestrain along with some battery use. The last option is to halt the background data option on many of the services, keeping only the app you are using taking up any time and energy. In doing this you will not only extend the life and charge of your battery but a majority of the process will simply run faster as you have lowered the actual strain on the handset.
