“this new version of IMP880 external battery charcher which I received lately as an exchange is incredible, this is what I call a real battery charger, any Iphone user should have all the time, I’ve charged my iphone 3gs 4 times & maybe it has more power to charge again.

Any one who read my previous comment should ignore it, the new version is a different story, its a real charger, I’m putting my comment only now because I wanted to test this unit completely to give my honest true final evaluation after charging several times.

Again I have to mention the unlimited active support & cooperation I found from their support team so thanks IMAX for this great product, hopefully you’ll update us with more great products like this & thank JOHN from support team for your great support

I have a 3G iPad and this device DOES NOT charge it. I am sure it works for everything else, but I did not test it beyond the only reason why I bought it.

I bought an IMP880 iPhone 3G/iTouch charger about a month ago. I was pleasantly surprised by their prompt service – the charger was delivered to my doorstep a day and a half after I had placed the order!

I was even more impressed with their product once I had charged it for the requisite 7 hours. I was immediately struck by the fact that I could simultaneously charge my iPhone AND my Blackberry Pearl while on the move. That fact alone justified my investment in the device. Let me explain that fact in more detail.

I am an ultra marathoner. I run 100 mile races. My races are chronicled on my blog, [...], and the biggest problem I face during the 25-40 hours I am out on the course running the race is the fact that my iPhone battery charge lasts only about 6-8 hours. That is the reason I usually swap my iPhone AT&T SIM card into my older Blackberry Pearl whose full battery charge lasts at least 50-55 hours. With the new charger I can now run longer races (more than 100 miles) without worrying about how to recharge my Blackberry Pearl.

I started the Thames Ring 250M race (100 hour time limit) in the UK in June, 2009 and, as my race report records, I spent about an hour, 54 hours and about 160 miles into the race, trying to figure out how to recharge the Pearl. I eventually spent 40 minutes in a canalside store charging the phone in a wall socket. Those 60 minutes would have been spent moving forward had I had access to IMP880 last year.

You can read about my phone charging woes in my race report on [...] (look for the section, in blue, “Nether Heyford Fenny Compton …”.

I fully intend to use the IMP880 during my September South Downs Way 100 mile race (again in the UK), the October Javelina 100M in Arizona and during my return visit to next year’s Thames Ring 250-mile race where I have some unfinished business to take care of.

I know that it will work flawlessly. I have already put it through its paces during my 23 mile pacing stint in the Western States 100M where my friend, Alan Geraldi, tried unsuccessfully to finish that iconic race (he missed the 85-mile cutoff).

I have been looking for something just like this for my races and I have to say that I love it.

Notwithstanding product description, on connection to my iPhone 3GS, I got a screen message saying it does not work with this device so I had to send it back. On bright side, return through Amazon could not have been easier.

As an avid techie, I always seek the best technology available on the market and after looking for a portable power solution for a few of my USB devices I found “the best” with the IMP50D and IMP880P. I have used competing products in the past but the features and build quality of these two portable batteries is truly unmatched. After purchasing the IMP880P and using it for a couple of months my searching for the ultimate portable power/recharger has ended. These devices are currently the best answer to the question of extending the battery life of any USB device when in the difficult position of not being able to utilize a conventional power outlet. Both units are remarkably small yet very powerful and can easily recharge my HTC HD2 several times.

As both a commercial airline pilot (my weekday job), a budding professional photographer (my weekend job) and a power user of every modern electronic gadget, power management has been my Achilles heel in using my electronics throughout the day. Now with both of these powerful charger/backup batteries I have to worry no more since now I have several days of backup power at my disposal and whether they are in my flight gear case or in one of my camera gear cases, their size and weight make them easy to transport.
