try linux, mount and add files
      or
btbugger (device MAC address) port dial (anynumber)

      No need to install Linux.

      On the Hero:
Once you have you Hero connected to the machine trough USB, go to the phone notification bar and select “USB Connected”. A window will pop asking if you want to mount the SD card, select “Mount”.

      On Windows Media Player:
Open Windows Media Player and you’ll see and new device all the way down. I usually rename the SD card to HTC Hero so I know what I’m looking at. Now you can go ahead and sync the same way you’ll sync any other device. Actually what your doing is looking at the SD card and copying music to the SD card using Windows Media Player.

      Anyways your done, happy syncing.

don’t use windows media player, just use bitpim to do all the music transfers, more info at http://www.HTC-Hero.com hope it helps.
