I am considering upgrading to the HTC Droid Eris. I've read that there will soon be an Android software upgrade (1.5 to 2.0 maybe?). Is this type of upgrade one that is rolled out to all current HTC Droid Eris phones? For example, if I purchase now and the upgrade is released later, will the updated software eventually be rolled into my phone? Would I have to wait for the software upgrade before purchasing the phone?

yes it will,
see i have the droid eris and Verizon did say that the eris should get the update
within the first quarter of 2010, which means either January or Febuary.
and it might ever get the 2.1 update.
oh and don’t worry about “not getting it” because the update will come directly to your phone.
so when the update comes out the phone will say “Phone update available” and will start downloading straight to your phone.
