I am on US Cellular, and I don't want to switch carriers, but I want a Droid phone. The Android OS is awesome and fast. Verizon's new Motorola Droid is awesome, but Verizon's plans are TOO expensive. Anyone know if US Cellular is getting a Droid phone in the near future?

Verizon has specific rights over droid, sorry if you want it you have to switch over. Or buy a ddroid and find some way to use it with Cellular plans.

us cellular has at least one android phone in testing, but i suspect we won’t see it live for at least a couple months. probably 2nd quarter.

I am a fan of US cellular on facebook. All over there fan page they are saying that by the end of the summer, we will have a droid phone that we can purchase.

the blackberry 8500 series is ok but im underwhelmed, its kind of a pita (pain in the a), buttons and screen are too small . Too bad i just upgraded, oh well i guess i’ll have to live with it for a while. The droid looks like it would be more practical and functional. Hey is there any way to connect this BB to a printer???

I just talked to a rep at US Cell and she stated that she knows they are getting the Droid but it could be months before it comes in.

I also talked to a US Cell rep at the store and at first it was kind of funny. I asked her if they were getting an android phone anytime soon. She said yes they are getting an apple phone… I then said ”
But an apple phone is exclusive to ATT right now” and then she said “Oh!, I meant to say a google phone, The Nexus One”. If this is true That would be cool! She also said that it would arive at stores in june.

i talked to a us cellular rep the other day. she said they were working on getting their 3g network up over more of their home coverage area, hopefully in june. she said that an android phone would be soon to follow.

my best friend is a retail manager for us cellular and she did confirm that us cellular will be coming out with the droid mid summer of 2010.

Yes they will sometime this summer. Also to state it is with specific rights Verizon isn’t true. Plus Verizon is in contract with US Cellular as well. I asked all these questions yesterday. They are getting a droid by Samsung and a Droid by NTC to start out. I am getting the HTC one.

They are getting Android phones in June. HTC and Samsung are the manufacturers. If I remember correctly the HTC has a 5MP camera with a flash. A sales person showed me a confidential email with all the specs of upcoming phones.

I was told by my friend at the us cellular store and the call center that they do have the Moto Droid with a 6mb cam. and will be on the android network. the phone will be in to buy in May or June 2010.

Ok i just talked to my friene at us cellular corp and it is not the Moto Droid it is a Samsung Android with slide out keypad and a HTC Android all touch. they do look nice!

I talked to a us cellular representitive and she said the droid is coming to us cellular, it is currently in testing and will be launched in late may-june.

uscc is not getting a droid. the droid was released last year on verizon. uscc is getting and htc android phone and a samsung android phone. you guys are idiots

Adam, I wouldn’t be calling others “idiots”, when you can’t make a blog entry that makes any sense what-so-ever. At first you say “uscc is not getting a droid”, then you go on to say “uscc is getting and htc android phone and a samsung android phone”. Either know what you’re talking about, or proof read your post, or (likely in your case) both. The fact is the USCC is getting Android, sometime this summer.

The DROID is a Motorola phone that Verizon has exclusive rights to.
ANDROID is an operating system available on several phones. Like many of you said, US Cellular is getting an HTC and a Samsung that run the ANDROID operating system.
“Droid” is a model name. Motorola is the make. Like Ford Taurus or Chevy Malibu.
Android is an operating system, like Windows 7.
So Adam’s right. He just didn’t explain himself well.

I agree… The DROID is a NAME, like TAURUS. The ford TAURUS and mercury SABLE are the same car, just different name sold under different brand. Verizon will have the “DROID” which is an ANDROID phone. USCC will have the same unit, but call it something else. Make sense to all you stupid fuckers out there?
