I'm having a lot of trouble on picking a phone to buy. I have had the Nokia 5300 since August 2007, and i'm sort of sick of it. I cant even use it anymore, because its badly broken. I am strictly looking for a phone with a QWERTY keyboard, because typing on the Nokia 5300 is difficult, especially that I am now 14. Thankfully, the Motorola Cliq, Samsung Gravity 3, and the Samsung Gravity Touch all have that. But, the Cliq comes with a 30 dollar data plan since it's an ANDROID phone. I've tried to find ways to not pay for the 30 dollars but I guess it's not working. People have said that "if you use wifi instead of T-Mobile's data plan, you wont have to pay the money." "If you pay the phone in full price, you don't have to get the data plan. And so on. I would like to know if those statements are true or not, and if you have any suggestions on paying for the data, please tell me.
Now moving onto the Gravities. I like the Samsung Gravity 3 because it's easy to use, but not so basic. The Gravity Touch reminds me of the Cliq because of the touch screen and the QWERTY keyboard. I've heard that the 3rd Gravity doesn't have a headphone jack, and that's a problem because I constantly listen to music everywhere. I don't exactly know if the Touch has this same problem too. My father likes both phones, but I want him to be happy with one more suitable for his age and type, which would be the Touch. he has no problem with us both having the same phone, but i kind of do. Could I have a lost of the pros and cons for the 2 Samsung phones and probably some personal experiences with any of the 3 phones? Thank You.
Oh yeah, and I am on contract, but my father wants me to take me off of the old one (it's a long story). So if i'm not on a contract, will the data plan price for the cliq be lesser than 30 dollars a month? Thanks again.

I can’t advise on the Samsung phones, because I don’t own them, but I can tell you being familiar with the CLIQ and T-Mobile, there is no way around getting one without a data plan, buying it outright will still require you to register it on a calling plan and T-Mobile, like all other carriers, requires a data plan with all smart phones, even if you stick to using WiFi, they will not register the phone onto their network without one.
Edit:
No, the cheapest data plan T-Mobile has is 59.99 a month under the Even More Plus (No Annual Contract).

Hi. Currently I have the Gravity 3 phone, and my dad has the Gravity Touch phone. I’ve been using both, since my dad wants to know if I’d rather have a Gravity Touch then a Gravity 3.
Currently, I am also the same age as you, and this is what I think…
The Gravity 3 does not have a headphone jack, the Gravity Touch doesn’t either I believe – but both phones do have a place where you can put a Bluetooth headphone in… Or so I hear?
Anyhows, I personally like the Gravity 3 phone more… Why? It’s way easier to use. & with the Gravity T I am not allowed to go on the web, but then when I sometimes click somewhere it clicks on ‘Web’ instead. It also takes a long time to scroll up and down because sometimes instead of scrolling down it clicks on something…. I believe that both QWERTY keyboard’s are exactly the same though. So, in conclusion the Gravity 3 works better for me – but the final choice is up to you. =)
