@UseMyDroid Someone working for Verizon Wireless told me that if you don’t let your battery die completely on your Android phone at least once a week, it shortens your battery life over time. It must be true. Right?

@staggs516444 If the wallpaper is “live” (it moves/changes) then there is a better chance that it will drain your battery faster, if it is a still image, then it should not drain the battery any quicker than other wallpapers, downloaded or not.

will it drain my battery if i use a downloaded picture as my wallpaper?
March 25th, 2011 at 7:56 pm
@BoondyAlBoondy yes, that is what I am saying.

@UseMyDroid So, it won’t harm the battery life if you charge the Droid even when the battery’s not completely drained (or at least until the battery icon starts flashing)?
March 25th, 2011 at 8:38 pm
@BoondyAlBoondy Droid X or other phones have no such option Nor do they need one. Your camera must be using older battery technology – Droid phones do not need to have their battery drained to charge properly.

My digital camera has an option to fully drain the batteries, so that you can charge it without waiting for the camera to die … Does the Droid X have a similar option?

Wanna save your battery? This is simple:
1 – install advanced task killer and use it always
2 – install APN on/off and just turn your 3G on when you need it.
Done! I have a Motorola Droid and my battery remains 3-4 days.

@UseMyDroid yeah i’m sorry too, spend $500 to buy the phone outright. No bringing it back, if I could I would. We got screwed.

@matouseknl Sorry you’ve had such a problem… have you tried to return or exchange the unit you have? Sometimes there is just a problem with a particular piece of hardware. Exchanging for a different model may be an option as well.

@omarcain Excellent Point!! In fact if you look at one of my other videos (“Android 2.2 Battery life fix…” ) You will see that I show people how to set up ATK to do the “When Screen Off” setting to do just what you are suggesting. Thanks for the tip/comment!
March 26th, 2011 at 2:39 am
Advanced Task Killer can also be configured to do it’s job WHEN SCREEN IS OFF instead of every half hour or longer.

One of the best videos Ive found thanks so much!:)

@VideoLeadsOnline True, but not for JuiceDefender. That really does help. Keeps apps from using data when screen is turned off. I would assume these are obvious things to do, but I know I’m wrong. The average consumer i’m sure does not have a clue about these basic things to increase battery life.

@mechrocktech I looked at you vids… looks like you have to root your phone before any of your tips work. Not really interested, though it does look pretty geeky! I like the tips here because they work on stock (non-rooted) phones.

HAHA, I’m on my 3rd day for my Droid X. 50% right now. Over 30 hours used. I turn my phone off at night. I have a couple different approach to increase battery life. These work, but the ones I have can help just as much if not more. Look at my videos.
