I was doing some experimenting with different techniques I tried in the past and came across a way that actually works, or at least improves battery life till I get the extended battery. Does it work for you to? or is this just a fluke? twitter.com

People should be charging their phones when its off. You get 30 to 40% better battery life by doing so. Don’t charge it while its on then turn it off and charge it more. Just turn it off at night and charge it. That’s how you should be charging it if you’re trying to improve your battery life.

people, stop ruining your batteries -.-
November 23rd, 2011 at 9:59 pm
do not do that dude… BAD IDEA. you will ruin your battery, the kernel is built to do that to keep from damaging the battery. Not going to get into battery science, voltages and all that, but look around xda, cyanogen mod forums, bad bad crap can happen. Root+custom kernel can get you just as long without the damage to battery. trust me

I read about this, is called bump charging or something like that. Just KEEP IN MIND, that in the long time (or not so long), the battery life will start decreasing, so you’ll have to get a new one

The most battery life I have gotten on my Droid Incredible is 13 hours and 2 minutes
I tried this and it works on my Incredible and it might work on other HTC devices.
Thanks for the info

This video is definitely legit. I have 2 batteries, the extended life battery which is big and bulky, I believe it’s a 3500mhz battery, the stock battery is I think 1750. On the regular battery I was getting upwards of 17 or 18 hours. This is listening to slacker radio for 5 hours straight at work, sending texts, surfing the web, the only thing I didn’t do is download any apps. I just did this with my extended battery…It’s been on for 39 hours 15 minutes and still has 18% battery life left

Try also this steps >
1. Turn your device ON and Charge the device for 8 hours or more
2.Unplug the device and Turn the phone OFF and charge for 1 hour
3.Unplug the device Turn ON wait 2 minutes and Turn OFF and charge for another hour Your battery life should almost double, we have tested this on our devices and other agents have seen a major difference as well.

Well I don’t know how that worked for you since shutting down your phone uses a lot of battery power and booting up from the dead uses up even more battery which is why you need to charge it again after you turn it on.

@izgil82 Basically the backbone of your phone. ROM’s are in large part visuals and graphics, Kernels run many things in the background and a custom kernel can make your phone much faster and use less battery by optimizing speeds as well as removing bloat from stock kernel. If you load a custom ROM it will likely already have a custom kernel included in the package, so you should probably take a look at the OP and see what it is. I’ve had good experience with chad’s incredikernel (sense plus25)

@poqbum I rooted my phone and installed Re-Engeneered custom ROM but I have no idea what the kernels are about. Can you explain that to me please?

Nothing happens, absolutely. Same result. I’m really wondering how in the world are you getting 16 hours on a single charge with heavy usage.

do you have to do this every time you go to charge you Droid Incredible? or do you have to do it just one time and it will work forever… i hope you only have to do this once cuz i dont want to have to explain how to do this to my mom…. i had actualy herd about this trick last nite from another person and tried it, my battery has been off the charger 2 hours now and is at 93% and ive been txting using apps and using the internet

Yes this works. It’s called bump charging and it’s not recommended unless you want your battery to die out quicker.
Extended batteries with a case are much better. Also if you’re familiar with rooting your phone you’ll be able to load a custom ROM and Kernel that will increase your battery life much more than bump charging.

This works brilliantly! After my phone has been plugged in all night in the on position, my Battery Gauge app says 100% but then starts dropping down to 99-98% in the first couple of minutes of use. Once I follow procedure in video, I turn my phone on and the Battery Gauge says 100% for quite some time. This coupled with the fantastic Juice Defender app has allowed me to fix the one thing this great phone lacks, battery life. Thanks Mr. Bieber and Juice Defender!!!!!!!
