Google's open platform could benefit the wireless industry, but the 3G issue may slow adoption. Also, while more than 30 industry heavyweights are partnering with Google, Apple will not be participating.

You’re thinking of Gobuntu (only one “o”). Check it out on Wikipedia, they explain things fairly well.

Be careful, gOS has no affiliation with Google or their partners. gOS stands for “good OS” not google OS

Vista was in development a full year before apples new OSX was even out. I don’t think they really were just copying, but it might have influenced them to work harder on some areas. Also, it’s not like only Apple has the rights to use high resolution icons or 3d effects. Plus, most of the stuff from Apple was from Unix anyway.
Also, I would like to point out to you Android is not from Microsoft its by Google.

Android it is easy to develop for on all phones across the platform. Which is actually kind of a big deal in the mobile industry.

But there are stuff in OS X that copied straight from Windows. TimeMachine is old and already done 10+ years ago, front row was done like 5+ or more years ago.
Plus reason why most Apple products works, is because they develop on strict hardware requirements. Unlike Microsoft, they ahve to develope and support for a wide variety of hardware & software.

You said it. And I totally agree but if you listen to what this rep said. he never mentioned the user. He mentioned companies making more money. Everyone but the user what mentioned in this interview. I won’t give a corporation of the benefit of the doubt either. I won’t assume its a given that they have the consumer in mind. I think Android will be pretty sweet but if this guy truly speaks for Google, then I have a problem with it.

U realize that Vista copied OS X like hardcore, to the bone of its coding. AND IT STILL SUCKS!
LOL
Come one’ you really want iPod MINI to be the best small mp3 player right now in 2008. Please….. You just not realistic. How else you gonna move forward with a player that is on sale for 5 years. … Just do your research before you comment….
Everyone does have an iPod and an iPhone…not because its Apple. BECAUSE IT WORKS!

this really sucks! Making hardware and software with different companies. WAY TO GO!
December 21st, 2009 at 4:57 pm
The goal of a company is to make money. It’s illegal for them NOT to try and make money. The thing that’s great about Android is that it allows companies to make money while also providing a better experience for the consumer instead of the other tactic of gimping a phone’s functionality so that they HAVE to go through your services for something (e.g., ringtones, wallpapers, themes, games, etc.)
December 21st, 2009 at 5:53 pm
how about mobile users?? I love how companies are concerned about themselves. The goal is to make money but not benefit the user. I think android has a lot of potential but if this guy speaks for Google and the other partners, then I don’t like their target.
