Thanks–finally an easy to follow and actually quite helpful tutorial on extending the life of the my touch 4g battery. Putting the power control widget on home page was something I should have done first day out of the box! Thanks again
i have the same phone i cannot get widgets how have you done this on the g1 what version of android have you got mine is on 1.6 and it will not update anymore can you help me
I did this for my Backflip and seriously my battery life doubled. Pretty amazing. I use Task Killer, and also toggled my data syncing to only activate when my phone is connected to a WiFi network. In addition, I’ve it set so that if it hasn’t detected a WiFi network in 10 minutes, to just turn the WiFi radio off until the next time I load an online app or my WiFi Scanner, much like I have my GPS defaulted to off unless I use an application with GPS implementation. Helps!
Tasker/Locale -> Create a battery saving profile (dim screen, turn off sync, tactile vibration, gps, apn, wifi etc. etc) when battery is bellow like 20% and then you don’t have to worry about this stuff.
Short battery life can be solved by obtaining the extended battery. I suggest you to get Xell Extended battery for HTC Desire, only USD 20.00. Search “Batterybay” and you will find Batterybay(dot)net, get your extended battery there. Free shipping and 1 year warranty offered!!
task killers do not save battery life. common misconception. The android platform doesnt expend battery by keeping background apps in memory…as android was designed as a mobile device OS, and google intentionally desiged the OS to handle background apps.

Thanks man, nice video. I didn’t know about the power panel widget (getting my first Android device on monday).
One thing to complain, though: You didn’t put the apps list in the description, as you promised at the end of the video
