@12345Joeable If you can’t remove with the correct screwdriver you can use a screw extractor.

What do you do if one of the four original screws is stripped?

@petetheyeti You might be sliding the ribbon cable on top of the pins instead of in between them. I think this is what I did that caused the little plastic sheathing to break.

@petetheyeti I just replaced my screen a few minutes ago and this same thing happened to me. Upon further investigation i found that I had actually broken off the top part of the jaw connector. Initially, I was terrified but then noticed I hadn’t actually damaged or bent any of the pins. I very carefully slid the ribbon cable into the pins, locked it down, placed the little yellow piece of dielectric tape back over the connector, and bingo, problem solved.

@petetheyeti Indents rarely cause problems unless it deep/big enough to cause the circuitry to break. I would suggest contacting the seller of the screen directly for further troubleshooting and diagnosing of the issue.

@RepairsUniverse It looked fine, I pushed it in until i couldn’t anymore. And the wire looks fine except for a small dent in the back of it. Could that be the problem?

@petetheyeti Likely just the LCD flex cable is not fully connected into the motherboard. This would be the first place to look. Also check to be sure no damaged has occurred to the flex ribbon cable itself (rips).

Hey, i broke my screen earlier and replaced it. I put it back together and when i tried to turn it back on there was no image, like nothing showed up but i know the phone is on because it makes the droid sounds when it starts up. Any ideas?

@KrikeBike As long as the touch screen on the water damaged phone is functional, you should have no issues doing this. You may want to use new adhesive on the screen though, especially if the water damage was severe.

Hi, i dropped my Droid Incredible today, and the entire screen cracked, and the touch screen wont recognize anything. My mom had the exact same phone but it wouldnt work because of water damage, is it possible to swap screens?

@shroom42013 We have another video in our channel for the touch screen removal and replacement. We also have a “Touch Screen Assembly Guide” which is a great help when it comes to applying adhesive and seating the screen.

@schwartzman93 It is just held in place with 3 small pads of adhesive. Use a pry tool to carefully pry it up. Should come out very easily.

@RepairsUniverse How do I remove it
November 15th, 2011 at 2:33 am
@Ufos7 Depends on how bad the damage is and if it is a motherboard connector. Normally these can not be repaired (reliably). If it is on the motherboard and the damage is severe, you will need to replace the motherboard itself.

I accidentally broke one of the clip connectors can this be fixed ? Will it work without it ?
Thanks

@schwartzman93 Yes, this can be removed and reused on the assembly. If it is ripped or damaged you will want to replace it however. These can be found at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

Is the LED ribbon removable, because I bought a whole new body, not just the digitizer..and the body didnt come with a LED ribbon…so im wondering if i should order it

Thanks for the great & useful video…I recently used it to replace my droid’s screen and it worked wonderfully. My only difficulty was unlatching the clip on the right ribbon cable–there was no latch that I could see, and at 2:11 your hand covers that area so I can’t see where exactly the safepry tool is.

@stasi32 This is damaged to the LCD screen. This will need to be replaced. Be aware that there are 2 different types of LCD screens for the Droid Incredible. Check out RepairsUniverse (dot) com for more information.

hey my phone just cracked and the screen has changed colors to all black phone can only answer calls because i cant see anything will this resolve my issues?
November 15th, 2011 at 6:23 am
@MehdiGlz Yes it is very possible to replace only the LCD display screen. You can also replace the touch screen and LCD screen, if that is what you are referring to as “whole screen”. Water damage is difficult to diagnose, but if the phone powers on, but there is just no display, an LCD replacement would be your best bet to resolve the issue.

If the screen glass isn’t cracked, but the phone got wet and screen works but there’s no image, is it possible to change to whole screen?
November 15th, 2011 at 7:32 am
@ziggystardust36 Basically, it is the ear speaker that is not functioning correctly? This is likely because of a connection issue. Be sure the contacts on the speaker are fully connecting with the contacts on the flex cable relaying the signal. Check out our speaker replacement video for the Droid Incredible for more information.

I replaced the screen on my Droid incredible last night with your part. Everything is working great but the microphone/in call volume. Media and alarm audio work. Could you tell me what part of the phone the microphone/call audio is in? Could it be as simple as a disconnected ribbon cable? Thanks.
