Startup of the upcoming DROID Bionic, along with an LTE speed test (with 1 bar strength), and a brief look at the new Blur. Moments later, handset received an update to version 5.5.886.en.US. EDIT: it should be noted that it took the phone about 18 seconds to go from initial "Dual Core" screen to the lock screen. What irony… My Droid 1 lagged out at exactly the same he pressed the “start test” button. This must be a sign… xD

I’m running CM7.1 on my EVO 4g Supersonic. I installed the bootanimation but get no audio. I’ve been trying to figure out and/or fix this problem to no avail. Is there any idea on this?

@rainabba Did you even read my post full or just the parts you wanted to? You almost got me, except that I actually admitted in my original post that a slower dual-core can sometimes lose to a faster single-core. However, Android is a multithreaded OS; if an app decides to “own” the processor in a single core phone, the OS and UI become sluggish, but in the dual-core phone, even though the app will perform slightly worse, the OS, UI, and other processes have a second core to stay snappy with.

@segin2005 Hey genius. Voltage isn’t everything (in some electronics applications, current is more important than voltage) and for the same reason, having a dual-core 1GHz phone won’t always be faster than a single-core 1.2GHz phone. It depends ENTIRELY on the application (and I don’t mean software). Not all applications benefit from a 2nd core just as not all benefit from a higher clock speed. Maybe you should refrain from proving that you’re not as “all knowing” as you are.

The Droid is shit

@osanilevich cough… its called overclocking. I can make it 1.5ghz if I wanted to. All these 1.2, 1.3 ghz phones are probably just overclocked slightly to give them the “edge”.
All in all the smartphone market is bullshit lol

A 1GHz dual core processor is like having two processors. In almost every case, it will beat a 1.2GHz single core, and the cases where it is worse, are too few to be worth worrying about. Think about it: what gives more voltage: two 6 volt batteries, or one 9 volt? If you say the 9 volt, I seriously recommend you go take an Introduction to Electronics class

@TheLadedaman yea being that the next wave of 1.2 (and beyond) GHz processors are coming, I think moto should have bumped up the speed a bit, not that a 1GHz dual core is blistering fast
November 14th, 2011 at 12:24 am
Doesnt matter that its only 1 bar on LTE… you would get almost exactly the same speed with 4 bars.. i have a thunderbolt since day one and i get 6 down 4 up everytime.. it really depends on where you live right now because they havent boosted the network speeds because its still very new technology. in some cities like atlanta you can get 20+ on the down..
November 14th, 2011 at 1:08 am
4-5mbps down with only 1 bar!!!
November 14th, 2011 at 1:14 am
@TheLadedaman lol thats a lie. galaxy S2 is slightlyy faster!
November 14th, 2011 at 1:39 am
@supermanthathoe100 first of all it is verizon 4g lte which is the fastest 4g network. a dual core processor is just a processor that processes data much faster then a single core processor and there are only a couple phones with those , this phone will be the fastest phone on the market when it comes out, and is the only phone on verizon 4g lte with a dual core processor
November 14th, 2011 at 1:56 am
FINALLY! A VERIZON 4G SPEEDTEST THAT DOESN’T EXCEED 20 MBPS DOWN
LOL
November 14th, 2011 at 2:43 am
I am thinking about getting this phone, I don’t know much about smart phones so what is it that is so good about having 4G + Dual core?
